My storytelling roots began in childhood, nurtured by a steady stream of visiting relatives from the Caribbean who filled our home with stories, exotic aromas, music, folklore, Anansi tales and terrifying duppy stories. Shared alongside laughter, community and a strong sense of cultural identity, these experiences sparked a lifelong passion for storytelling that continues to inform my work today.

I was born and raised in Coventry, where my parents settled after arriving from Jamaica in the late 1950s. Raised in the 60s in a Jamaican household, and in a Britain where signs in windows read "No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs," my upbringing has profoundly shaped both my artistic voice and my approach to storytelling. Those experiences continue to bring depth, versatility and a wealth of perspective to every role and script I undertake.

Alongside a career spanning more than three decades as an actor, I am also developing my voice as a playwright and storyteller. Drawing on lived experience, family history, oral storytelling traditions and the communities that shaped me, my writing explores themes of identity, belonging, memory and connection.

My debut full-length play, Behind God's Back, explores grief, migration, friendship and the lasting impact of family history through the lives of two neighbouring women in Coventry. I am currently developing Across Every Name, which examines the complexities of ambiguous grief through a queer love story spanning nearly two decades, from 1980s Britain into the early 2000s.
